America's Looking For the New Lawrence Welk... Only Waaaaay Cooler!
America, we're looking for the new, waaay cooler Lawrence Welk. If you think you know who he/she is, pick up your baton - and your TV remote - and get ready for the most exciting, entertaining musical reality show of the new millennium. Your password for all of the fun: "A1ANA2"!
Each week, some of the world's best - and most iconic - musicians from the '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s and right through today will compete to become America's premier bandleader, conducting superstar bands who will play the hits as you've never heard them before. Paul Shaffer, Barry Manilow, Peter Frampton, Carole King, Harry Connick Jr., Jay Z, Eminem, 50 Cent and many more performers of note... all competing for the title of America's favorite maestro.
A supporting cast of talented unknown performers from America’s elite music schools like Julliard and Berklee, as well as from points all across the country, will join the rock titans in a national jam session and contest to rock the ages.
The weekly, musically-themed shows will cut a swath across the ages spotlighting genres of music appealing to a multi-generational demographic. From rock to pop, Boomers to Gen Yers, this show has it all.
In keeping with the Welk Show’s cultivation of new talent, this show will bring phenomenally gifted musicians and singers into American homes each week and allow viewers to get to know them on a personal level.
The Lawrence Welk Show is entering its 55th year on TV, making it one of the longest running shows in history. Its current PBS incarnation is garnering 3 million viewers weekly, including a substantial number of closet Welk fans from the Boomer/GenX/GenY generations.
Our new program, in terms of entertainment value, excitement, great demos, sponsors and publicity angles, is a winner.
